We are proud to announce our first-ever Ideal Bite Best in Green (B.I.G) Awards -an awards program that will annually recognize those companies, products and services that are true leaders and innovators in the green space. Winners of the 2008 B.I.G Awards will be announced at the B.I.G. Awards Party in December 2008 in New York City.

Ideal Bite's Best in Green (B.I.G) Awards will consist of seven categories including: Home, Health & Beauty, Style, Food, Fun, Everyday/Living and Next in Green. Companies, products, services and individuals who have already been "tipped" before on Ideal Bite are automatically eligible for a Best in Green Award. Companies that have not yet been tipped but would like to be eligible for can submit themselves for consideration at www.idealbite.com/bigawards.

We are enlisting the help of our biters to help vote for the "Next in Green" recipient, a category designed to recognize an individual doing extraordinary things in the community on behalf of a healthier planet. The Ideal Bite editorial staff is hard at work selecting the official nominees and will be back soon with further info!

Guidelines for eligibility for Ideal Bite's Best in Green (B.I.G.) Awards require that companies, products and/or services be:

1. Environmentally responsible and sustainable
2. High quality, durable and long-lasting
3. Local, organic, and non-synthetic
4. Reasonably priced
5. Aesthetically pleasing (including minimal packaging)
6. Socially responsible (fair-trade sourcing, charitable, not tested on animals)
7. Made in North America
8. Not marketed using greenwashing techniques
