Calling all entrepreneurial DIYers in New York! Greenfinds and Samples for (Eco)mpassion are looking for vendors for their Holiday Eco Marketplace. This all-green market will run from Nov. 19 to Dec. 24 and be open Thursday to Sunday at 2 Great Jones St. Tables are $350 per week minus any commitment for the following weeks – they can even staff your table, you know if you’re stuck at your day job. If you wanna sign up or need more info, contact Ike at ike@greenfinds.com or 917-226-9765.
Shoppers – be sure to gather up all that loose change lying in your couch/bottom of your purse and scope out the Holiday Eco Marketplace. They’ve already got a great lineup on board like: Read the full post...

Emmy Events
Two days, two Emmy events, and one too-short weekend later, I'm trying to write this blog instead of watching red carpet arrival recaps (J-Lo flashbacks with Blake Lively's red hot number, right?)…
On Thursday, I went to Noreen Fraser Foundation's Focus On A Cure Emmy event with Eater LA's editor, Kat Odell (see pic of us). I had the pleasure of chatting with Noreen right after she got off the phone with Arnold Schwarzenegger (for reals). Stage four-breast cancer motivates her to raise awareness about early detection for the prevention of women’s cancers - which Read the full post...

Eco-Soap
…about eco-soap. I'm pretty sure that wasn't a pun, but it's hard to tell anymore.
So I've been trying out different eco-soap varieties lately…some are meh, some I really dig (Whole Foods' Rosemary Mint Glycerin Soap), but outside of the glycerin varieties, I seem to run into the same problem with these bars: They almost always fall apart long before their time.
Not like break in half, mind you. Like splinter into somewhere in the vicinity of 78 billion tiny slivers that end up being pretty much useless. This process starts very early on…once it's been in the shower for a couple days, you can see it start to crack and prepare for disintegration.
Has anyone else encountered this sort of thing? Is there a fix? Please send help…my side of the office is starting to smell, and I don't think Read the full post...

Deodorant
Well, folks, it's Monday morning, and I hate to do this to you, but we're gonna talk about deodorant.
I sweat like crazy. I've sweated while standing in the snow with my hands hurting from the cold. In short, I am never sure.
So it was with great reluctance that I switched to an eco, aluminum-free deodorant that wasn't even an antiperspirant. But aluminum's been linked to Alzheimer's and however tenuous the link may be, Alzheimer's scares a lot more crap outta me than wet armpits do.
And here's the thing: I can't tell the difference.
I don't sweat any more than I used to - if anything, it feels like I sweat even less than before. (Maybe my body was trying to get all the nasties off me?) I either Read the full post...

Neem Tree Oil
Neem tree oil - with all its various uses - is my new favorite cosmetic catch-all. What coconut oil was for last year (and yes, I am still cuckoo for coconut... it's my moisturizer of choice, and, occasionally, serves as dinner as well), neem is for 2006.
Neem soaps cleared up a crazy rash I had on my arm, neem oil left my skin soft and smooth, and a neem mosquito gel kept me bite-free during all of the cleanup of my roof garden before my move (and yes, other people around me were getting bitten).
So check out the wonder tree when you have a chance... apparently, neem
