In honor of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week (this week), I thought I'd call out HSUS's new Shelter Pet Project (video intro here), which is aimed at removing the stigma of shelter animals. Many potential pet owners assume that shelter animals are behaviorally difficult or sick (most are Read the full post...
She brought up human-grade, dog treats from Oliver Bentleys – handmade biscuits with organic and locally-sourced ingreds like honey from the Savannah Bee Company. My pup loves them and it got me thinking about Halloween. I love, love, love sweets and so does my little one – so this Halloween I’m going to have a bucket o’ candy for the kiddies and Oliver Bentleys on hand for the pups. Owners will love the ease of operation as well as the simple to follow instructions and the availability of a technical support line (really!)."

But when we lived in the desert, we used to give Toma, our shy retriever, a close shave in summer to help keep him cool and comfortable. But for the first few days following, he actually made himself scarce, hiding under the table or tucking himself behind the barstools...we swear he was blushing beneath those fluffy golden cheeks. Over time, he'd go outside for longer periods, start meeting guests at the door again, snuggle up for a cuddle....and eventually, with a little more fluff on his back, he'd be himself again.
