Who knew that we were all at such risk of constant dehydration? I mean pick up a magazine or watch an ad on tv, and sooner or later, you'll be convinced that your body is in severe need of hydration, electrolytically imbalanced and lacking in peak performance. Oh puhlease. When I grew up, kids playing sports drank... well, water. And that water? It came from a tap, not a plastic bottle with a label. But if I were buying the need for electrolytic sports drinks (and trust me - as a girl who occasionally imbibes too much of a different kind of liquid, there is something miraculous about potassium-laden sports drinks for a hangover cure), you can rest assured that I would be reaching for the ONE Natural Coconut water. As with many things, I was a complete skeptic until I tried it. I promise - that stuff is GOOD. -Heather... off to remember a world where a bench of kids playing basketball all drank out of the same refillable water bottles... I’m allergic to coconut! Although it’s a little-known allergy, people should (obviously) make sure they’re taking appropriate precautions before trying something new. you should pick up The Coconut Oil Miracle - it has everything you need to know about coconuts and healing! i love it! I have been drinking ONE Coconut Water for 3 months. My hair and skin have never looked as good as they do now!!
Copied from website: O.N.E.™ is 100% natural coconut water, which is the water inside a young green coconut. It is naturally filtered for nine months through the dense fibers of the coconut creating a nutritious, pure and refreshing isotonic beverage. O.N.E.™ is 100% natural and has five essential electrolytes, more potassium than a banana, no added sugars, no fat, no cholesterol and no preservatives. O.N.E.™ is not the milk that is derived from the meat of the older brown coconuts. Hey Angie- Here’s your answer: The liquid inside the coconut is the water, while the milk “is made by pureeing a mixture of coconut meat and water, then straining it to remove some of the fat.” http://www.slashfood.com/2006/05/06/coconut-milk-vs-coconut-cream-vs-coconut-water/ Hi Cathy, Coconut Water is actualy non-allergenic.

I didn’t see it at my Whole Foods, I’ll have to look again. Are you guys buying yours at stores or ordering it through the website? What does it taste like - is it sweet? One statement on their website cracked me up: “O.N.E.™ can be consumed on long airplane rides, especially by people suffering from Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).” RIIIIGHT. It would be NICE to be able to consume it on long airplane rides (I travel a lot) if we weren’t living in a “you-can’t-take-anything-on-an-airplane-that’s-not-piece-of-clothing-or-a-shoe” society. Airport security would throw that stuff in the garbage so fast - quicker than when they threw my brand new toothpaste away because it was 4 ounces (the limit is 3 ounces...) Grr. Hey JB - I got mine at Whole Foods (actually, first encountered it at the WF in the Time Warner Center in NYC). It’s “sweet-ish,” is about the best way to describe it. Coconut in general seems sort of sweet to me - even with no sugar added - so it has that sense about it (sort of in the way that even plain soy milk can taste sweet). However, unlike soy milk, this is mainly clear and not at all thick. Good stuff, all around. I’ll just have to remember not to take it on the plane. ;) This is a very famous song by Harry Belafont enjoy!
The thing that’s best if you’re feelin’ glum
:) I have tried all the coco waters out there, and by far, the best is Vita Coco! I looove their pina colada flavor which is made with pure coco water, coco puree and pineapple puree. They are also the most inexpensive brand out there :)
I had a look at the websites for these coconut waters (O.N.E. and VitaCoco), and it seems that they are packaged in some material called Tetra Pak, which touts itself as very eco-friendly, but which is composed of layers of paperboard, plastic, and aluminum foil--meaning that in most areas, it’s impossible to recycle. So it loses a point or two on the sustainability scale. (Yes, it may be *theoretically* possible to recycle the paperboard part by pulping the stuff and then sifting out the sheets of plastic and aluminum, but in how many places do the facilities actually exist to do this? In my opinion, packages only count as recyclable if it’s not only possible but simple to recycle them--because if it isn’t simple, people won’t do it. Around here, it’s hard enough to get folks to throw their cans and bottles in the blue bin instead of the brown bin, even if they’re sitting right next to each other.) Haverwench, I’m surprised to hear that tetra paks aren’t recyclable where you are. (Where are you?) I’m in Vancouver, and we’ve been recycling tetra paks for quite a few years now. What do you do with juice boxes, then? Vita Coco is BY FAR the best coconut water out there! If you’ve ever sat on a beach with a coconut in your hand, you will understand what i’m talking about! It’s subtly sweet without an after taste. (I’ve only tried O.N.E, though, and it tasted watered down) I love coconut water… but look what the experts say about vitacoco: PLEASE BE AWARE THAT VITACOCO COCONUT WATER PINA COLADA FLAVOR HAS FAT ON IT!! YUCK The brand that I recommend is GOYA. "I announced the winner of the 2005 Crappys: VITACOCO COCONUT WATER NATURAL REHYDRANT DRINK! Pointless, wastefully packaged, unneccessary, excessively hyped, and unquestionably the worst-smelling product in the history of these awards, it managed to be so bad that even a baby wouldn’t put it in her mouth. Bravo, VitaCoco, and keep on’ crappin’!” http://www.ludickid.com/040305.htm Humm… I will not try this brand...THANKS FOR THE TIP! Hi, I bought 3 different brands of coconut water online. ONE, Zico and Vitacoco. ONE is by far the best tasting coconut water! http://www.onecoconutwater.com J Two questions about Coconut water -
1) http://www.thegreenguide.com/doc/114/bpa 2)I have been drinking one ONE coconut water a day for approx 5 months. I have not experienced any laxative or digestive problems. I am moving back to Greece in a few weeks. Does anyone knows if Coconut Water is already available in Europe? I drink ONE coconut water everyday and I definitely feel the results of the hydration. Do you guys know of any links showing how coconut water works in a intra-cellular level? Rebecca you can buy coconut water in Europe I am in the UK and purchased one called cocofina from http://www.cocofina.com As far as I know they do not do flavours and its the closest to the real thing. I think passion fruit would go well with coconut water I lived in India for 2 years and got into the habit of drinking young coconuts from roadside carts for about 10 cents each...upon returning to the states I started buying young coconuts at Asian markets. When my wife gave birth last year, she declared it “the best postpartum drink!” Not too long after that, I saw that several brands of coconut water had appeared on the health food stands with all the requisite hype...well, coconut water is worthy of the hype, but my recommendation is: buy fresh coconuts from local Asian markets (ask for ‘em by the case) and hack of the top...pop in a straw and enjoy. You get the water, plus the meat (yum!) and best of all it’s truly eco-friendly (nature’s packaging) and no corporate product endorsements! Hi, My Nutritionist said that the Asian Coconuts available in the US are soaked in preservatives! And sometimes the water could be rotten… Linda, it’s true-"fresh" Thai coconuts are dipped in fermaledhide which keeps the husk white. Your best bet is Vita Coco, all the other newer brands on the market taste watered down. Also, to the comment way above that Vita Coco with pineapple and coconut puree has fat--anyone who knows the macriobiotic properties of coconuts know that coconut meat has VERY GOOD and HEALTHY fat! Read Coconut Cures by Bruce Fife, or The Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife, Jon J. Kabara, John J. Kabara Hi Jay, I bought Vitacoco, ONE & Zico @ my local Whole Foods. ONE & Zico are good, Vitacoco is just ok… Where can I buy ONE coconut juice in Manhattan? I tried O.N.E, Zico and Vitacoco. O.N.E. was the best, Zico was almost as good. Vitacoco had a horrible after taste, upset my stomach and gave me diarea. They canned coconute water was better than that! After reading the posts no one has mentioned a canned coconut water we have here in Socal called amy & brian. It is a water from the young coconut and it is product of Thailand and “NO’ they don’t dip into a preservative. This is by far the best tasting of all the brands that I have tasted (in my opinion)and their product has chunks of coconut pulp, or a pulp free, and the one I like the best is with lime. It is availible in most Whole Foods stores, and several smaller natural foods stores here in Calif. Hi John, You must work for this Thai company… because Brian & Amy is just nasty!! Please VENDORS do not post comments!!! Carol…
amyandbriannaturals.com Amy and Brian’s the only coconut water that is totally pasteurized, or “fried” (they boil the entire cans with coconut water inside). The only packaged coconut water that does not compromise entirely the benefits of the pure coconut water are tetra paked coconut water. Notice how industrialized Goya and other Thai brands use the same exact can as “Amy and Brians “natural coconut water”.. Ironic?.. Tabitha...all juices have to be pasteurized to be sold in retail whether in a can or in a big giant vat and then put into a tetra pack (which, btw, is extremely difficult to recycle. Conspiracies don’t fly (or fry) with me! FYI:
Tetra Pak is environmentally smart from the start. It is one of the best examples of minimal packaging (less material from the start) available today. And it uses far less energy to manufacture, fill, ship, and store than virtually any other comparable package on the market. But move over source reduction and energy efficiency, because there’s another environmental plus: The Tetra Pak is being recycled in millions of American homes, and the numbers are growing.
No one is happier than me that people are recycling more and more of their waste! So people are recycling in the millions but the industry is producing in the billions? Who wins here! Maybe we should add a deposit to the tetra pak drink products like we do for other drink containers? What are the 3 layers in a tetrapak anyways...it’s not just paper!
Now let’s get back to the topic of coconut juice and how awesome it is for you.
John, Coconut Water is awesome indeed… however your canned coconut water is not! Mariana,
Hi all, I would like to comment on the post by Brad on March 15, and by Hello on March 16. The link that knocks VitaCoco seemed very childish to me and not very credible as a serious critique. I wasn’t sure if the author of the link was knocking the product or the smell of coconut water in general. He says his baby wouldn’t touch the stuff but my babies love it and drink it through a straw. They can’t get enough. Personally, I like the product and am extremely happy to see more products like this in the market place. Maybe the writer of the blog didn’t like it because it wasn’t sweetened to death with sugar? My only concern with my babies trying coconut water is only with possible allergic reactions. Has anyone heard of allergic reactions to coconut water?? Curious. Hi Curious, I believe that Brad and Hello were just trying to warn the readers of this blog that even though coco water is great, not all coconut waters taste the same… some brands are definitely better than others! I personally do not like Vita Coconut Water as well… Tariq Coconut"water" is Not water! It’s the endosperm of young coconuts. Yeah, you read it right...endoSPERM.I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw people marketing it by claiming it hydrates you. This stuff is a dieretic because, among other things, it’s high in potassium.
I don’t like the smell or taste of these products. Even if I did, I wouldn’t buy them because they are far from eco-friendly. The tetrapaks aren’t easlily recyclable and the products are imported from Brazil. Their carbon footprints are enormous and contribute to global climate change. Remember, BUY LOCALLY!!! Coconut water is very high in potassium versus other electolytes which which makes it a dehydrant.... not a rehydrant.
Zico is by far the best coconut water out there. They have 2 flavors with no added fat like vita-coco. They also give back to the communities that they get their coconuts from. I buy mine at whole foods.

Html代码 Hi, Cathy. You can be allergic only to Proteins. Young green cocconut is not aptotein source and it is naturally grown and chec your liver, kidney and colon. Try to eat raw foods, chew it well, eat local or organic with no additives and you will be well soon Good luck! Stay alert to commercial foods. Mila just wanted to clarify that potassium is NOT a diuretic. If you have too much of it, your kidneys will get rid of it (if they are healthy) - but the kidney is complex and this does not necessarily mean you will lose more water from the body. I can’t find any suggestion that potassium is a diuretic so I’m not sure where the above statements (Marty & Jois) came from. |
What is the difference between coconut milk and coconut water? Can you get the coconut water out of a fresh coconut?
