Eco Stink

I hate that even today "green" still hast to fight the stigma of being inferior, costly and/or producing stink... ie: those folks that don't shower to save water, or what-have-you.

On top of this, I sweat.  I don't perspire.  Perspiring is for princesses, and although I have three friends that think I have princess qualities (I don't really), I don't perspire, I sweat like a pig.  And it is not clean smelling, I have to tell ya... it is that stinky "stress sweat."  The kind that stains your white tanks yellow.

So, I am the ultimate tester for eco-deodorants... and a-testing I have been (sorry Cricket for those days where it didn't really turn out so well).  As the tip says, ALBA worked as well as my paraben-filled Secret, and the others that we listed I can wear on non-stressed, non-hot days.  I actually have taken to using the Miessence organic one before going to bed, after my shower, to get a jump start on it.  I don't care that my body is absorbing it since it is probably even good for me.  And should I have a scary dream, I won't stink up my PJs with stress sweat.

Off to give away all the products that didn't work to people who like practical jokes... I will tell them it works great and to wear it for good luck at their next meeting with their boss when asking for a raise. Jen

wow, awesome info everyone. thanks. Personally, i use Thai spray and apply pure cornstarch as needed to control wetness, preferrably a Non-GMO cornstarch. I never have trouble with odor anymore. Also, I was recently turned onto Egyptian Magic for painfully cracked fingers. Not only did it totally heal them in 36 hours, but given the ingredients, i decided to try it on my underarm. Applied after a shower, I had 2+ days of no odor! Drawback: their ingredients are not organic. They are switching to an organic Olive oil, but the bee products are not from "chemical free hives". So if that makes a difference...
Regarding: "And the USP (US Pharmacopoeia) has stated that parabens are safe for use in these types of products. That means that parabens had to be tested and examined by 1000’s of doctors, researchers, and PhD’s that sit on the board of the USP, and if they could prove they were NOT safe, they would not recommend their use. But they have not found them to be harmful. And in case you are wondering, anything that is USP grade, which all of our ingredients are, means that they are an even higher and purer form that you would find in other products. So look for companies that use USP grade." The USP (United States Pharmacopeia) does not esablish the safety of any product, ingredient, excipient, etc. The USP esablishes the QA and QC standards for manufacturing testing. They do product quality, not safety. DO NOT confuse the two. The USP does not have 1000s of experts, only about 700 volunteers, and they do not see everything that happens. The USP does not do ANY safety testing, None..."USP grade" ha, that is even funnier. USP Grade means that a company claims that they meet the minimum QA standards as stated in the USP-NF. This is on the company's word. No independent group ever confirms this, no the USP, etc.
i developed an allergic reaction to all deodorants/anti-perspirants with fragrance and have tried all sorts of products now. tom's of maine apricot was definitely not strong enough for hot los angeles weather, they came out with a long lasting unscented one recently and that was even worse. almay's clear gel stick ruined shirts and left crusty stuff on me and my clothes, aluminum anti-perspirants work but seem to burn my skin which is unpleasant and unsightly and i wondered about the health risks. so, after reading this post i thought i'd give the crazy body crystal rock a try. woo hoo! who would have thought rubbing a wet rock under your arms would work so incredibly well even in very hot and humid weather? this product will save tons of money and help the environment too by cutting down on all that packaging since the rock lasts so long. also, from reading online i see that people say it's actually deodorant that cause those yellow stains on clothes rather one's sweat which i had assumed was the cause. i hope that is true because if i don't get those stains anymore i'll be even happier.
Organic roll on lavendar deoderant by Laffe works well. I've tried lots of them. I wonder if anyone knows of a good natural soap besides using lemon.
I've been using the crysal with mixed success. The Tom's actually caused a funky smell as it must have reacted to my system somehow. I am curious as to how these natural products work when the sweat is on regarding clothing and stains or buildup on fabric? (which would indicate buildup on your skin, too). Just curious. (Note that being a bit hormone deficient will also cause your sweat to be a more and a bit more stinky!)
Hi, I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem. I've used crystal rock deodorants with much success... for about a few months. While I have no odor (I don't mind sweating so long as I don't smell), after a few months, I develop a rash under my arms. My armpits get red and itchy to the point where the skin rubs off. Gross for sure.

I'm allergic to sulfa drugs, so I thought there might be some kind of natural sulfur in the crystal rock. I've switched to Kiss My Face's Liquid Rock with the same results. Months of no odor and suddenly I'm red and irritated.

I'm hoping Terressentials deodorant will work, but I also like the idea of the spray on deodorant. Any ideas? Has it happened to any of you?
I get this necklace as second-hand item at a tiffany jewellery store near my district, half price of new, I am happy.
