Eco Under Panties

If there is one place to go eco, it's down under.

As today's Daily Tip says in the "Personally Speaking" area, if you tell us about yours, we'll tell you about ours (and who on the team goes commando).

Off to get dressed... first putting on...nope...  you'll have to check back later to see!!

***** BREAKING NEWS *****

I finally tracked (almost) everyone down. Our official picks:

  • Krista: "Patagonia Hipsters all the way..."
  • Brett couldn't be reached for comment, but if we ever come out with "Biter?" underwear, I'm sure he'd be all over them.
  • Jen: "I used to wear total 'grannies,' but now I live in the Deity Aton ones from GreenLoop, which are a big step up." Thumbs up and bums up, Jen!
  • Heather won't say what kind of underwear she wears, but she did let on that "If I could get away with it, I'd never wear underwear."
  • Personally, I still wear the Fruit of the Looms my mom bought me before sending me off to undergrad. Thanks, Mom!

dude i haven't worn underwear in about 3 years. but i do have a pair of pants that's recycled poly and hemp from patagonia, best pants ever.
What makes me gag is filling up the landfill with used menstrual products. It really is about shifting your comfort zone. The Keeper is really a very ecologically sound way to go -- and a lot of women swaear by it! I'm toying with the idea, but for now I just use reusable cloth pads. A sprinkle of baking soda here and there, then just toss 'em in the washer at the end of the week. Couldn't be easier, and they're MUCH more comfortable than a lot of the alternatives.... No more chafing, irritation, etc.
Maggie's Organics...socks and underwear for me. Glad Rags are the best...I haven't bought those nasty throw-away supplies in over 10 years. Wash and dry and wear again!!! www.organicclothes.com www.gladrags.com
While I appreciate the search for organic/eco-safe underwear is a tough one to begin with, it disturbs me to see that you advocate buying from american apparel. The company and its advertising are blatantly exploitative of women, and I can't support their products, no matter how eco-friendly, until they stop treating women as objects. Please look into their business practices and take a moment to consider whether this is a company you really want to support.
Well, this is my first blog ever - and a great way to start, even if it's a few days late. I'm learning to make time for the more important things as I get older. Got some new low-rise jeans - totally love 'em - and need some mathcing eco-boxer briefs...looks like Patagonia might have some, so if I can get permission from my better half to spend the $, it might just work (going to my job commando just isn't really an option...). Keep up the fantastic efforts...you all keep me entertained and informed as I work to lessen my ecological footprint...BTW, I save a lot of 'gray' water for my plants - is this a fair trade-off if I drink organic wine and beer in my hottub? Looking forward to more great ideas!
All these brands sound great, but i bite down under -so to speak- and i am not going to mail order 'panties' as you call them. It would be great if ideal bite could let us know about products available from shopfronts here in Oz, as i believe there's lots of biters living in Australia and staring whistfully at all the US products listed. Thanks. (We call them undies)
Kim- We're planning on doing country-specific versions as early as next year. Stay tuned!
Oh Throbbin', clearly you don't read us often enough. We've always used our sexuality to pimp our blogs, even when it was just Jen and I on staff... May I direct you to some faves: Recycling Past Loves has it Benefits or Where is a Hot Italian Named Marcello When You Need Him? or Seriously. NOT your Grandmother’s Environmentalism Happy (ahem) Biting. Heather
Eco mens underwear is one of our best sellers and is made by babygod
