The Great Dehydration Scare

Who knew that we were all at such risk of constant dehydration? I mean pick up a magazine or watch an ad on tv, and sooner or later, you'll be convinced that your body is in severe need of hydration, electrolytically imbalanced and lacking in peak performance.

Oh puhlease.  When I grew up, kids playing sports drank... well, water.  And that water?  It came from a tap, not a plastic bottle with a label.

But if I were buying the need for electrolytic sports drinks (and trust me - as a girl who occasionally imbibes too much of a different kind of liquid, there is something miraculous about potassium-laden sports drinks for a hangover cure), you can rest assured that I would be reaching for the ONE Natural Coconut water.  As with many things, I was a complete skeptic until I tried it.

I promise - that stuff is GOOD.

-Heather... off to remember a world where a bench of kids playing basketball all drank out of the same refillable water bottles...

I drink ONE coconut water everyday and I definitely feel the results of the hydration. Do you guys know of any links showing how coconut water works in a intra-cellular level?
Rebecca you can buy coconut water in Europe I am in the UK and purchased one called cocofina from www.cocofina.com As far as I know they do not do flavours and its the closest to the real thing. I think passion fruit would go well with coconut water
I lived in India for 2 years and got into the habit of drinking young coconuts from roadside carts for about 10 cents each...upon returning to the states I started buying young coconuts at Asian markets. When my wife gave birth last year, she declared it "the best postpartum drink!" Not too long after that, I saw that several brands of coconut water had appeared on the health food stands with all the requisite hype...well, coconut water is worthy of the hype, but my recommendation is: buy fresh coconuts from local Asian markets (ask for 'em by the case) and hack of the top...pop in a straw and enjoy. You get the water, plus the meat (yum!) and best of all it's truly eco-friendly (nature's packaging) and no corporate product endorsements!
Hi, My Nutritionist said that the Asian Coconuts available in the US are soaked in preservatives! And sometimes the water could be rotten...
Linda, it's true-"fresh" Thai coconuts are dipped in fermaledhide which keeps the husk white. Your best bet is Vita Coco, all the other newer brands on the market taste watered down. Also, to the comment way above that Vita Coco with pineapple and coconut puree has fat--anyone who knows the macriobiotic properties of coconuts know that coconut meat has VERY GOOD and HEALTHY fat! Hi Jay, I bought Vitacoco, ONE & Zico @ my local Whole Foods. ONE & Zico are good, Vitacoco is just ok...
Where can I buy ONE coconut juice in Manhattan?
I tried O.N.E, Zico and Vitacoco. O.N.E. was the best, Zico was almost as good. Vitacoco had a horrible after taste, upset my stomach and gave me diarea. They canned coconute water was better than that!
After reading the posts no one has mentioned a canned coconut water we have here in Socal called amy & brian. It is a water from the young coconut and it is product of Thailand and "NO' they don't dip into a preservative. This is by far the best tasting of all the brands that I have tasted (in my opinion)and their product has chunks of coconut pulp, or a pulp free, and the one I like the best is with lime. It is availible in most Whole Foods stores, and several smaller natural foods stores here in Calif.
