Headbangers’ Hairspray Ball

Toshio's playing AC/DC in the office while I type this, so it seems only too appropriate to harken back to my 80s roots.

In past years, I've just tossed up my hair on top of my head before heading out to yoga or into my home office, so I've had little use for hairspray. But for those occasions when I want to look decent, hair comes down, hairspray comes out. Since my hair is curly, it really doesn't take much attention to make it big.  I mean BIG.

Not QUITE the spectacular effect that I used to be able to conjure in the 80s, but hey - Halloween is tomorrow...maybe I'll break out the banana clips and tease some bangs.

I don't use hairspray but my concern with products similar to that is, what do you do with the trigger sprayer? The bottle itself can be recycled but not the triggersprayer. So there is something that ends up in the landfill. By the way, our recycler does take aerosol cans to be recycled.

I am concerned about the DIY hairspray....Wouldn't you be attracting bugs??? Just wondering:)

I use Jason Fresh Botanical Hairspray which I can sometimes get for as low as $3.99 (more at whole foods). It does the job at a reasonable cost with no harm (except for the trigger sprayer).

i can personally vouch for lemon juice NOT attracting bugs. however, we used it full-strength to lighten our hair, not give ourselves helmet head... ;)

Hey my hairdresser just used a new product last week with seasalt to give the...I just left the beach thick hair look. Let me just say...I was stylin'. So I've been meaning to try this myself with a spray bottle, water and sea salt. Why not! Try it yourself or I'll let you know how mine turns out.
