I’m Not into Detoxes

I'm OK with diets. I was vegan for 8 mos, but I didn't make a big deal about it. On the other hand, when chicks in the Bite offices do their spring detoxes or whatever, the rest of us brace for a week of moodiness and comments about "how good a Twix or a cheeseburger sounds right now, but no, I can't, I'm on a detox." The detoxers outnumber the nondetoxers 2-to-1 at Ideal Bite, BTW.

If you're really serious about getting healthy, why not listen to Matthew "My Goal is to Break a Sweat Each Day" McConaughey and exercise more? I believe in consistent change - not just the once-in-a-while detox that spares your liver for a week, only to make it start processing vodka heavily as soon as the detox is over.

-Toshio...off to thank Hanah for knowing everything about Matthew McConaughey and inspiring this blog...

I have tried many detox products and diets, some are so extreme. I know it is good to detox so over the years I have tried so many. Some make you feel like you are going to die! recently I found a liquid Zeolite and I have been taking it ever since. This allows me and my family to detox with out side effects. We are hooked, just like the heavy metals in our body get hooked to the Liquid Zeolite and leave our body! www.liquidzeolite.org www.detoxpackage.com for more info
Arbonne International also has a great year round detox tea and with arbonne never tested on animals or has no animal products. Love those clean livers and good for your body products made by folks that love the planet and all that lives on it! ;) Namaste' Steph

I've never done a detox in my life, ever. I don't feel compelled to. Sure, I overindulge from time to time on liquor and fatty foods, but when that happens, I always feel 100% better after lots of water (especially mineral water), some exercise and a lot of fresh veggies. Sets me right every time.
For those more worried about their kidneys than their liver add Hydrangea to your routine, I have a kidney disorder and couldn't have alcohol or even tylonol for years til my naturepath turned me on to it. I'm sure he's thrilled I'm quite the lush now.:)
We don't just get toxins in what we eat and drink, we come in contact with hundreds just by living in today's environment, in the air we breathe, the water (especially plastic bottled), and on fresh veggies if they're not organic. A lot of these toxins stay in the body for years. Toxic build up causes cancer and other diseases. It just depends on how well one's body can live with them. (See family tree.) Everyone could use a good detox once a year!
Ha! Matthew will be breaking more sweat than he's ever known pretty soon...(soon to be Dad). Anyway, I know what you mean about the 'detox wining', but on the other hand I cheer them on because what's really true is I should be doing it too! I do like the detox teas from time to time and I also agree, when I feel like I'm lagging, I crank up the veggies and it set's me right too (physically and mentally). Enjoy your blog! I can say that up until today's post I have been very pleased with your site. Instead of trying to promote a "synthetic urine" to pass a drug screen why do you promote not using drugs. As an employer you suggesting using this as an alternative to being a responsible adult I find amazing. Stick to what you are good at, eco-living, not promoting beating a system that is there for a reason. Drug users in the workplace are extremely expensive to deal with. You blew it today.
better yet, Leslie, how about promoting not drinking, which is a hell-of-a-lot more expensive to employers than recreational drug users, unless you're talking about the prescription drug users (who seem to be everywhere if you believe the chatter on the idiot box). I found the tip an excellent one, but come on, Toshio, "I WAS vegan for 8 months"???? that's barely enough time for any of your organs to miss animal by product!
"Detoxing" is nothing but a load of hooey. It's such a crock! The only ones who need to "detox" are alkies and druggies, for the rest of us, for those who can afford to, anyway, ODing on veggies sounds good to me, but as for special teas and other internal cleansers, FUHGEDDABOUDIT! That's nothing but malarkey! They're just moeny-making gimmicks for the companies who make 'em.
