It's Electric!
Trimming Your Electric Bills
The gas and electric bill of my new apt. runs me about $6-7 a month – cheaper than when I split the bill with a roommate. And it’s not like I do anything dramatic (like take cold showers) or inconvenient (live by candlelight) to make them lower. I do use less energy-sucking CFLs for lighting; I gave up TV a year ago and watch only my favorite shows online (Mad Men, 30Rock, Project Runway) so there’s no energy-wasting channel surfing; and my shower heats up superfast (unlike my former one, which took an eternity), so I hop in and out pretty quick.
Even on chilly nights, I’ll grab a sweater or blanket rather than crank the heat. Sure, come winter, that bill’ll creep up, especially with daylight saving time over and the days getting darker earlier. But every little bit helps…
Wanna shrink your electric bills this winter? (Um, duh…). Check out our Top 10 ideas.
