Two days, two Emmy events, and one too-short weekend later, I'm trying to write this blog instead of watching red carpet arrival recaps (J-Lo flashbacks with Blake Lively's red hot number, right?)…

On Thursday, I went to Noreen Fraser Foundation's Focus On A Cure Emmy event with Eater LA's editor, Kat Odell (see pic of us). I had the pleasure of chatting with Noreen right after she got off the phone with Arnold Schwarzenegger (for reals). Stage four-breast cancer motivates her to raise awareness about early detection for the prevention of women’s cancers - which can be caused by factors like exposure to avoidable chems, like perc or BPA - and to raise funds for research. She's rushing to find a cure so that her daughter won't have to battle it someday too.

Sad, I know…but Noreen uses humor to get our attention - for example, she had Jack Black get a mammogram. Her Men for Women Now campaign urges men to encourage the women in their lives to schedule appointments for a mammogram and a pap smear. Wanna help? Then on Friday, I went to the Eco Emmys Celebrity Green Gifting & Wellness Chateau for celebs and media to check out new green products and treatments, as well as learn about and donate to the following orgs: Susan Komen for the Cure, spcaLA, GreenWish, i am that girl, and Free The Slaves (there are currently 27 million slaves in the world!?) Some noteworthy finds: Cuca Fresca Exports' Brazillian Cachaça - an organic rum made from sugarcane and perhaps the next big liquor trend, and Forty Oaks Farms' sea salts and rice oils made with organic herbs. Plus I got an eco-brow threading from Vert's skillful Marco Ochoa, and a mani (free of the big three) with Bullish on OPI, an fab-for-fall cinnamon-y red, from its new Coleccion De Espana.
