Ideal Bite

One of my fave Chicago shops, Greenheart, is throwing its earth month extravaganza this Saturday - Livin' La Vida Verde. We're talking free, all-day festivities including samples, shopping, workshopping, clubbing, and, yes, making a difference while you're at it. Start the day off right with an Alliance for the Great Lakes/Greenheart-sponsored Ohio Street Beach cleanup from 10 am to noon. Then, head to the shop to reward yourself for getting down and dirty for mama earth with free stuff like samples of fair trade chocolate, local beer, and organic wine, and workshops including a cooking class (early-spring-veggie frittata, anyone?) and how to be energy efficient on the cheap. And because every good celebration calls for dancing, there's an after party at nearby Avila, where the DJ'll be spinning socially progressive beats and there'll even be some live theater going down. Come on.
