Mush Cricket, Mush!

Ha! I would LOVE to see The Cricket carting around the cat or the whole herd of my six new baby chickens.  And although I do think I am slightly crazy, I am not officially crazy and so therefore will not pursue this wild little notion.

And in general, I bet this tip won't be adopted as readily as say changing out your lights and replacing with CFLs.  Just a hunch.

OKAY officially conducting a poll:  are ANY BITERS going to do this tip?  Maybe it is good to get people thinking about alt transportation, though, right?

Off to think about The Cricket mushing... aww... that WOULD be cute.  JB

I own one of these dog scooters and know from experience that it has improved the quality of my dogs life. It's not what you have, but rather, what you do with what you have, that makes something good or bad. For those who judge, I recommend that you try to keep your mind open.
To those who are comparing the doggie scooter to the Iditarod; come on! There is no comparison! My dog is so strong, taking her for a walk is usually a fight to keep me from getting dragged down the street face-first with my arm tangled in the leash. She and I would BOTH be happier in a scooter where she could run full speed and I could keep up just by standing up.
I have a dog scooter, and a dog that used to love to pull (he hurt his shoulder in a non-pulling accident and I don't exercise him that way anymore). Skijoring is also fun for dogs if you live in an area good for cross-country skiing (my doberman used to love it- not bred for it- but he loved it). Working your dog is not animal cruelty if the dog likes it, whether it was bred for that purpose or not. I used to live in Alaska: most dog mushers I knew took excellent care of their dogs- some better than their children- and some did not. Don't cry animal cruelty without knowing what's what- the veterinary oversight on the Iditarod is extreme, and participants are disqualified out if they are not treating the dogs properly. Has anyone ever seen dogs getting ready to pull a sled? They are insanely excited. Go watch a demonstration sometime. City mushing isn't necessarily a good idea, however- I met a dog who actually pulled a small pickup truck he was tied to halfway down a driveway- if you can't control your dog, who is much stronger than you may credit, he or she can get away from you and cause an accident.
My sister lives less than one mile away from me, and I only weigh 100 lbs, which is about 20 lbs more than my dog who is a working breed. I burn a lot of gas back and forth from her house. Although I wouldn't be getting a major workout, I would still get better balance. It's not the same thing as lounging on a sofa. I think my dog would just LOVE to do this... when I run @ full speed with him on the leash he's barely even moving his feet. Kinda comical actually. My only worry would be, as someone else pointed out, that he would be TOO strong! I saw this tip when it came out and I have thought about doing it ever since!
I think this idea is great... not so much from the eco-perspective as from the dog exercise perspective. Having grown up with Dobermans, and taken them for runs with my bike, my skates, skateboards, whatever (yes, feet too ;), I can honestly say that this looks like a safer alternative... and I think the dogs would dig it. And for the people who find it cruel... I didn't see the guy in the video using a whip or any other form of coercion, did you?
