My Chin and Quads are the Sorest
Yoga
When I'm not trying to wow you Biters with the latest and greenest happenings in LA, you can most likely find me on a yoga mat either practicing, teaching, or occasionally modeling…
Last Saturday I was shot by Jasper Johal (top notch yoga-tographer) for Hard Tail (famous for its roll down, tush-flattering yoga pant), and was stoked to find that there's a Hard Tail Green Label now - a collection made with organic cotton and such. That day, two other yoga teachers and I had to do everything from Peacock to Camel pose (hence the sore chin and quads), and one of them, Maria, teaches at the new green Santa Monica studio YogaCo.
I checked out this donation-based, 3rd St. Promenade studio recently and was blown away by how spacious, beautiful, and eco it is. To improve indoor air quality (you know, since lots of breathing's happening there), it has HEPA filters and oxygen-producing plants like Mother-In-Law's Tongue throughout the studio. Plus it uses waterless urinals, which can conserve up to 40,000 gallons of water a year, and has bamboo floors. One of my fave teachers, Michelle Goldstein has a level 2/3 Vinyasa class in the Earth Room MWF from 8:45-10 am. She's superauthentic and relatable, reads poetry from Rumi to Saul Williams, plays the best music IMHO, and puts together seamless, sweaty flow sequences.
And in the spirit of Global Mala and National Yoga Month…get yourself in on some free yoga this Saturday at 10 am. Meet in front of YogaCo and do 108 Sun Salutations led by a slew of yoga teachers. BYO mat.
