Return to Sender

My name's Jenifer and I'm a Post-it junkie. One of the best inventions ever, they're made to make life easier - write your (short) note and put it where you need it. If you go digital, though, where you need it isn't always on your computer. For example, what good is my grocery list on my virtual desktop?

That's where the Notes area on my phone comes in - totally indispensable, since it automatically comes with me everywhere. Even better if you can check email on your phone - just type up a list and send it to yourself (or even take a digital photo of, say, a wine bottle you want to match up).

Works for work too - emailing a reminder to yourself (in the sub line) puts it back into your attention queue automatically, and when you're done, I have to say that deleting it is just as satisfying as crossing a chore off your list with a pen. There's also the magical whiteboard

Can you guys make your daily bite automagically appear on a kindle every morning? It would be helpful!
I use Google Calendar for reminders. It's awesome, it doesn't clutter my desk, and I can't lose the little paper bits.
The company I work for goes through a lot of paper, we work with financial info so it's the nature of the biz. We are trying to cut back on our paper consumption where we can. We get faxes on our computers rather than printing them out. My supervisors keep papers that have been printed on one side that do not have confidential info on them and put them back in the printer to use the other side for internal documents. My little contribution is that I take papers like this and cut them into 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" pieces, clip a stack of them with a binder clip and keep them next to the phone for notes, messages, doodles, reminders etc. If I need to stick them on something I use a piece of tape. Admittedly I do still use post-it's occasionally but I try to use the smallest ones! When we moved our office we hired Shred-it a company that will come to your location with a special truck and shred all your documents for you. They then take the shredded paper and pass it on to paper making companies for recycling.
I want to understand the facts in the Bite - the average American ANNUALLY uses the equivalent of an 18 inch diameter x 100 feet tall tree in paper? or in post-it notes? I'm hoping it's paper overall because that's a lot of post it notes!
Melanie: Don't worry - it's the average paper use overall. You're right, it would be extremely sad if it were just Post-its. Still sad, but slightly more palatable.
i'm a list & post-it fan too. but, am trying to cut down my paper use and be truly eco. post-its are sooooooooooo convenient though. i'll get there and be fully electronic at some point!
Where we live we can't use a cell phone and besides I am a recycler. I use any kind of paper to make my own notepads. Any junk mail or printer paper with one side blank, cash receipts from the store once they are 30 days old so I won't need them for return items. At the beginning of the year I even use the receipts from the bank for deposits I made the year before, after they have been recorded in the bank statements. All of these work great and I haven't used a new tree for it.
I just got an iPhone and I like the note taking app it has. It's so easy to use, I guess that's how it is on most smartphones. The problem I have is that I don't check my notes or calendars consistently and I miss important events/things because of my bad habit.
I get so annoyed by the excused byed hardy ed hardy clothing ralph lauren polo juicy couture them.
