Sky’s the Limit

During this year's Earth Hour, I'll be in beautiful Bodega Bay (yep, where The Birds was filmed). Barring any deadly avian attacks, I plan to pour myself a cocktail and kick back on the porch to admire the night sky. No candles, no big event...just me, the stars, our half-full moon, and the sound of the sea.

There are so many things you can do in the dark. And to take one hour to help our only planet that we live in is such a worthwhile cause.
While I agree the climate is a HUGE concern, the reality is this effort does little to solve the issue. There is a great presenation by Bjorn Lomborg on what issues we should be spending our time and efforts on. http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/62 Watch it and comment, or comment on my blog. http://www.davehamel.com I would love to hear others thoughts.
You guys rock and you're my fav website, but I just wanted to point out a slight mistake in today's bite. Actually, if the greenhouse reduction during last year's Earth Hour in Sydney was sustained for a YEAR, it would be equivalent to taking 48,616 cars off the road for a year." Just that one hour didn't do it. On the other hand, we're having a party! Candles, wine, beer and who-knows-what will happen.
We participated in Earth Hour. Even though we were making dinner, well...they were salads but big delicious ones. Here's a poll to tell whether you participated or not...Earth Hour 2008
I'm sure we all realize that one hour of no electricity, even world-wide, won't put a huge dent in the problem. But Earth Hour is about making a point, showing you care.
