Sock It to Me

So I have very little insight as to how someone strikes it rich (though I'm pretty sure it doesn't involve the publishing field), but Move #1 if I ever become filthy, dirty, disgustingly wealthy: wear a brand-new pair of socks every day.

I've no idea why I so thoroughly cherish this simple pleasure; I just do. Obviously I'd be donating socks to charity by the truckload (and I'd definitely have to add that to my eco-confessions regardless), but does anyone have any additional steps I can take to green my dream? Any folks do anything creative to recycle socks?

Weirdly, I hate throwing socks away, even when they are holey and old. I usually throw them in the rag pile and use them to dust or clean my shower (instead of paper towels). A great use for orphan socks is braiding 3 together tightly for use as doggie chew toys!
Also check out Qwaruba for great slippers. My wife and I got ours at REI and all profits are donated to charity. The are made of sheepskin (the website says they are sourcing food and wool by-product materials) so they are not vegetarian, but they last a very long time, are extremely comfortable, and have durable soles. The do not advertise them as eco-friendly, but I was able to overlook this for the charity donations they give.
I used to use the elastic tops of old sock for hair ties. The tops also make good wrist bands or arm warmers in the winter. You could also use them to make a quilt, if you have the patience to sew. My grandma also used old stockings as quilt filler.
Rags, dog toys, puppets and kid toys (some assembly required) are good uses for old socks. My Mom used my old baby socks as curlers when I was little. Roll lock of hair up on a sock and tie it. Repeat all over head. Go to bed. Look like Shirley Temple in the morning.(Look totally weird all night) Blow your own mind - if you knit (or know someone who does), measure length and circumference of your foot. Using bulky wool yarn (NOT synthetic or cotton. Mohair blend is OK), knit a rectangle 1/3 larger than these measurements (width equals circumference). Draw one of the circumference width edges together by running the end of the yarn through all the stitches starting from the opposite end from where you left off, and pull tight(Do a few times)and sew back 1/2 of the length from there. Then fold the other width end in 1/2 and sew up. Repeat for second slipper (they look like floppy clown shoes at this point). Throw in washer. They shrink to the coolest funky slippers ever! Shape while wet and air dry. Decorate, add soles or not. they are warm and cool at the same time ;^) Lastly, did you know socks are the larval form of coat hangers?
Better than buying socks - learn to knit and be in on the fastest resurging craft/art form in the country. Knitting socks from green yarns, including bamboo, soy, and even chitin (a blend of shrimp & crab shells) and all kinds of (non-itchy) wools (truly recycling fiber!) is a wonderful way to keep toes warm. Knitting is also very therapeutic and although I work WAY over 40 hours a week, I find that my knitting time is more beneficial than therapy! And happier on my pocketbook!
$35.00 for houseshoes is not i will find other ways to green the world.

You can not buy jewelry stores at any jewelry stores except jewelry stores’s own, since they never sell outside their jewelry stores I’d love to discuss louis vuitton replica, but I am not sure if you really have one.
