Styx-y Situation

Another one bit the dust last week. Sadly for King magazine (tagline: “The Illest Men’s Magazine Ever”), even its exceptional “illness” wasn’t enough to keep it alive.

One of my favorite blogs is Magazine Death Pool, in which an anonymous blogger who calls himself the Reaper predicts which print magazine’s gonna die next. Let me just tell you that the mortuary’s been extremely busy lately.

I grew up loving paper magazines, so the state of print media today is kinda sad, but inevitable (see this clip from the Simpsons) and no doubt saves tons of paper (95% of magazine paper has no recycled content). But I still don’t see myself reading a Kindle on the toilet or the beach anytime soon.

The number of magazines dying out is insane. They are dropping like flies. Also, the amount of recycled materials in magazines is alarmingly low. Bobby W. roll offs
