SMALL CHANGES ADD UP

If 10,000 Chicago Biters buy one locally produced sweater instead of one imported from China, we'll conserve enough gas to fill the tanks of 371 cars.

COCKTAIL FACT

The Bite

This craft: Chicago Craft Mafia's DIY Trunk Show in Pulaski Park. Get a gander at hip jewelry, clothes, journals, organic soaps, and loads of other handmade stuff by 95 different artists (mostly locals) this weekend. Look for Sew What Sarah's totes stitched from recycled truck tires (surprisingly sleek), Diffraction's modern jewelry made with original photos (check out its green-leaf danglies), and Moira & Obbie's knits, handcrafted from reclaimed fibers (dibs on one of its hooded swackets - see photo). Buying locally made goods conserves fuel, plus repurposing materials cuts down on waste. Wicked.

Wanna Try?

DIY Trunk Show; Nov. 22, 10 am-5 pm; Pulaski Park Auditorium, 1419 W. Blackhawk St. Moira & Obbie Swackets, $250 and up.
