C'est Bon(Bon)

The Bite:
imageWhat’s more sublime than fine French candies? How about unwrapping, oh, 20, and counting how many you can stuff in your mouth at once? With Das Foods’ handmade, bite-size caramel bonbons, you won’t want to the sugar rush to end. The earth-friendly (and drool-inducing) ingredients include organic ginger, sustainably grown nuts, lavender oil, and honey from the happy bees at Wisconsin mom-and-pop apiary Gentle Breeze (no preservatives or trans fats here). The pièce de resistance? Genuine fleur de sel (fancy, fragrant salt) sourced from a small co-op of farmers in Guerande, France. Sweet-n-salty flavors range from chocolate walnut to Chinese plum, but the latest taste, chipotle pecan, really blew our berets. Bonbon appetit!
Wanna Try:

Cocktail Fact

A mere 3 pounds of France’s rare fleur de sel is harvested for every 80 pounds of the more run-of-the-mill stuff.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Chicago Biters eat a box of caramels made with sustainably sourced honey, we’ll safely harvest the life’s work of 22,500 bees.
