The Bite:
Wanna get a (Billy) Crystal clear picture of where your food comes from? Saddle up for a City Provisions Farm Dinner. This local-food-lovin' caterer hosts monthly events at spots like Faith's Farm (which produces free-range, hormone-free meat) and Rushing Waters, a Shedd-approved seafood farm. Itinerary: Ride over on CP's waste-veggie-oil-fueled bus (read: designated driver), tour the farm (hayride-ing included - yee haw!), then feast on a five-course meal made from just-picked ingredients. Each month's got a new theme (June's all about BBQ), and dinner's served with local beer (hello, Two Brothers). After, mingle bonfireside before you mosey back to the city.
Why Care?:
Eating locally grown food saves fuel and emissions from farm-to-plate transport, and helps support the local economy.
At last month's dinner, CP owner/chef Cleetus Friedman worked with Bunker Brewery to concoct limited edition beers for the evening's food pairings. One word: amazing.
Wanna Try:
City Provisions Supper Club; dates vary, 1-11 pm; 1820 W. Wilson Ave. (773-293-2489). Farm Dinner, $125.

Cocktail Fact

Jake Gyllenhaal made his acting debut as Danny Robbins, Billy Crystal's character's son in City Slickers, at the age of 10.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Chicago Biters eat only local food instead of food shipped long-distance just 1 day a week, in a year we'll save 78 bathtubs full of fuel from being used for food transport.
