Hometown Heroes

The Bite:
imageRooting for the local team when it comes to catering? Chew on this: City Provisions catering and events is locavore to the core and ready to perform all kinds of on-the-field heroics, from 500-person weddings and bachelorette bashes to lessons on throwing the dinner party of your dreams. CP uses strictly local products, including Nicole's breads (Chicago), Dietzler Farms beef (Elkhorn, WI), Prairie Pure Cheeses (Belvidere, IL), and Faith's Farm pork and eggs (Bonfield, IL), which avoids the cross-country (or cross-continent) emission-spewing haul of most food. We’re cheering for CP’s healthy, tasty box lunches packed in recycled boxes with corn-based utensils. New in July: a monthly supper club (aka informal restaurant) with regional beer and wine. Go, fight, win.
Wanna Try:

Cocktail Fact

The earliest lunch boxes were circa-1900 metal pails, and reused biscuit, tobacco, or candy tins.

Small Changes Add Up

If half of the food-’n’-drink 10,000 Chicago Biters consume is locally produced, in a year we'll avoid generating the weight of 41 Sears Towers in CO2.
