Community Bicycle Benefit Ride

Pedal Pusher

The Bite:
Ready to show some leg to bring traffic to a halt? Cuff up and cruise away with 25K other bike riders next Sunday when the city's scene-rific LSD turns car-free from 5:30 to 9:45 am. We'll be caffeine-fixin' here first, but there's also free water and fruit along the route. Start in Grant Park, rent if you gotta, and roll a couple or up to 30 miles, round-trip, before circling back to GP for the Bike the Ride Festival for music, games, plus $7 all-you-can-eat pancakes when you're done pant-ing.
Why Care?:
Biking downtown instead of driving means no emissions (read: pollution), no fuel needed, and - commuters take note - can take less time than driving in rush hour.
After a winter full of food and, well, more food, we're looking forward to burning some cals, then kickin' it at the park to live music from Obama pick Funkadesi.
Wanna Try:
Bike the Drive; May 24, 5:30-9:45 am; Bike the Ride Festival, 8 am-noon; Grant Park, S. Columbus Dr. and E. Jackson Dr. (312-427-3325). Registration, $40 (proceeds benefit the Active Transportation Alliance).

Cocktail Fact

The World Naked Bike Ride began with Spain's first organized Naked Bike Ride in 2001, as hundreds of people rode their bikes in the nude to protest oil dependency.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Chicago Biters bike just one 5-mile trip instead of driving, we'll save 42 washing machines full of gas.

In the first paragraph the reference LSD besides the 70's and Timothy Leary what does LSD mean here and couldn't they have come up with other initials?
