City Break: Pilsen Art Walk

Second City

11.06.2009

The Bite:
Are your weekend plans starting to feel comically routine? Improvise a way to get to Pilsen (you can always hop the CTA) to check out the arty hood's galleries next Friday night - 30 of 'em will stay open late. Print a map online, then cruise by Biter faves such as Artpentry, home to Floyd A. Davis IV's functioning boom boxes made from vintage trunks and Under the Wire Art boutique for jewelry made from recycled maps. After, grab dinner at the stylish, new Nightwood - the menu changes constantly, but try the goat cheese gnocchi and MI-grown greens if you can - before you stand up and head home.
Wanna Try:
2nd Fridays, second Friday of each month, 6-10 pm.
Nightwood, 2119 S. Halsted St. (312-526-3385). Entrées, $13-$26.

2nd Fridays - Map It
Nightwood - Map It

Cocktail Fact

Second City alumni include some of Saturday Night Live's best - Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Mike Myers, and Tina Fey.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Chicago Biters buy a pair of earrings made with recycled paper instead of new materials, we'll keep the weight of eight stand-up comics in paper out of landfills.
