Big Swap Bonanza

The Bite:
Got stuff you wanna (two-buck) chuck? Instead of tossing it, cart it over to this Saturday's first-ever Big Swap Bonanza. Just sign up for a spot, spread out your gently used winter coats, badminton set, sake glasses, whatever - and reel in a some dough. Need stuff? Cruise 300-500 tables of other people's unwanteds, plus the antique section, for deals (no 12 items-or-less limits here…) to the live rockabilly tunes of Pearls Mahone and the One-Eyed Jacks.
Why Care?:
Buying or selling used instead of new keeps perfectly good things in use rather than in landfills.
We hear there'll be s'leb-owned goods (like Frankie Avalon's putter), which HGTV's Frank Fontana will auction off to benefit the Bottomless Closet.
Wanna Try:
Big Swap Bonanza; May 2, 7 am-3 pm; Soldier Field, South Parking Lot, 1410 S. Museum Campus Dr. (312-666-1200). Vendor selling space, $50/advance registration, $65/day of; entry, $3.

Cocktail Fact

Though it can hold 11,000 more people than the Roman Coliseum, Soldier Field's the smallest NFL stadium, with 61,500 seats.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Chicago Biters buy a vintage Hawaiian shirt rather than a new one, we'll keep the weight of 143 grocery store clerks in new materials outta production.
