Is that an Aspen in Your Pocket? - Ski Week - City Break

12.18.2008

The Bite:
image...or are you - ugh, we can't even finish it. But we are happy to see this: Aspen Skiing Co. uses solar and water energy on its mountains, including Buttermilk (shallower slopes, great pow-pow), and invests in wind farms to promote renewable power. ASC also reclaims water for snowmaking (less water waste) and recently upgraded to cleaner, more efficient snowmobiles (more fuel, less pollution). If you've got shopping energy after a day on the slopes (we'll summon the strength somehow...), swing by Susie's Limited for deals on schmancy used clothing (no energy or new materials required) jettisoned by the jet set - like last season's Bogner one-piece that originally cost more than a pair of skis. Smooth.

Small Changes Add Up

Skiing at a resort that uses solar energy keeps the amount of CO2 produced by the average home in half a year out of the air.
