Clothes Call

03.16.2009

The Bite:
Got a fashion emergency? If a stiletto is involved, call a doctor, but if your closet's just a little bare, hit up Fashion Denver's Spring Fashion Market and runway show this weekend. Buy or browse bags, clothes, and accessories (as cheap as $5) from more than 25 local designers who work with organic fabs and recycled materials (hello, patchy skirts from Down Boy Down and Black Unicorn). For sure check out up-and-comer Francis Roces's repurposed polyester, Asian-inspired stuff like her perf-for-nights-out shift dress; see photo. Bonus: DJs and a cash bar. And if you check in with Brandi Shigley, who runs the event, she'll help you ID pieces that fit your own style. Phew.
Wanna Try:
Fashion Denver's Spring Fashion Market; Mar. 21, noon-7 pm; 1144 Broadway. Map It (720-266-4418). Fashion shows at 3 pm and 6 pm. Admission, $5.

Cocktail Fact

A swanky NY Fashion Week catwalk show lasts about 20 minutes and can cost upwards of $500,000 to put on.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Denver Biters opt for an organic cotton top instead of one made from conventional cotton, we'll keep the weight of 17 male models in pesticides out of the environment.
