Crescent Rolls - Ski Week

12.19.2008

The Bite:
imageFeeling a little Pillsbury Doughboy-ish these days? New recipe: Add Crescent Moon snowshoes to feet, walk until tired. CM's Mag 9 'shoes are superlight - making the trek easier - and strong, in case you, say, smack them on a tree (we swear it moved). The teardrop design is easy to maneuver (no Romper Stompers here), the three-prong claw gives you great traction, and the anatomical bindings were a godsend for us - no more stopping every 10 steps to tighten the straps. CM makes its webs without PVC, and recycles 95% of its fabric scraps, stainless steel, cardboard, and office materials in its wind-powered Boulder HQ. It'll even recycle old CM snowshoes when they're ready to retire. Poppin' fresh.
Wanna Try:
Crescent Moon, available online and at Sports Plus, 1055 S. Gaylord St. Map It (303-777-6614). Mag 9, $260. Rent at Sports Rent, 8761 Wadsworth Blvd. Map It (303-467-0200). Snowshoes with poles, $12/day.

Cocktail Fact

Though the Pillsbury Doughboy was created in 1965, it wasn't until the '80s that his family grew to include a wife and two pets.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Denver Biters buy PVC-free snowshoes, we'll keep the weight of 167 Labrador retrievers in plastic out of landfills.
