SMALL CHANGES ADD UP

If 10,000 Denver Biters compost their kitchen scraps for a year, we'll keep 31,000 kitchen sinks full of food out of landfills.

COCKTAIL FACT

A suspect in a murder trial was exonerated when outtakes from Curb Your Enthusiasm showed he was at a baseball game 20 miles from the crime scene.

The Bite

Scene one: Socially awkward bald guy chucks food scraps into a plastic bag. Rewrite: Socially conscious Biter chucks food scraps into composting bin, courtesy of Denver's new - and free - curbside composting program. Starting this month, 3,000 homes (check to see if you're eligible) will get outfitted with two bins: A small pop-top one that'll fit under your sink - keeping your clean-kitchen OCD in check - and another 65-gallon barrel to keep outside (we stuck ours right next to our recycling). Once a week, the city'll pick everything up, and send it to Keenesburg to turn it into soil for local farmers - great, since each of us Americans sends 960 pounds of compostable trash to landfills every year. The end.
