Ice Pics
The Bite
Want another good excuse to chill? Here's one: stunning shots of the world's glaciers, shot by local photographer James Balog. Stop by the
Denver Museum of Nature and Science for an eyeful - 24 images of Alaska, Greenland, the Alps, and the Rockies (natch) that play with concepts of liquid and solid (is it water, ice, sky?). Balog's Extreme Ice Survey brings together scientists and photographers to record melting ice fields (at 3 feet a year) via 26 digital cameras deep inside the ice. It's all part of the project's goal to raise awareness about resulting habitat loss and coastal flooding. Don't miss "Kissing Icebergs" - two giant bergs in Disko Bay, Greenland, that (awww...) look like they're smooching. N
ice.
