The Bite:
Breaking news: Ideal Bite has just learned that National Peanut Butter Month starts on Sunday, and many Biters may be woefully unprepared (hopefully you’ve steered clear of now-recalled PB prods). But Boulder-made Justin’s Nut Butter is addressing the crisis with its sweet-salty peanut and almond butters, which come in flavors like cinnamon and honey, and are made with nuts from Western farms that take care of the soil – and it’s got organic varieties too. Witnesses say you can eat ’em out of the jar, or grab a squishable foil pack for a quick burst of energy while you’re out and about. Stay tuned for recyclable or biodegradable packets…
Wanna Try:
Justin’s Nut Butter, available at Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, 5231 Leetsdale Dr. Map It (303-399-0164). Peanut butter, $6/16-ounce jar or box of 10 squeeze packs; almond butter, $10/jar or packs.

Cocktail Fact

Nearly 96% of people put on the peanut butter before the jelly when they make a PB&J.

Small Changes Add Up

Eating locally made peanut butter won’t save the world, but a glass of organic milk and the knowledge that the nuts are sustainably sourced will help it go down a lot easier.
