Pavia the Way

The Bite:

Coming through: Pavia Designs' casual, lightweight pendant necklaces. Golden-based artisan Paula Audette uses locally made porcelain to craft little charms with words like "Giggle," "Explore," or even Ideal Bite tagline-tastic "Sassy" (she'll also make custom charms), then hangs them from a thin hemp cord (pick from seven vegetable-dyed colors). They each get a little sparkle from a recycled semiprecious bead too - a vast eco step up from new precious metals (1/3 ounce of gold = about 20 tons of mine waste). Better things, indeed.

Cocktail Fact

Jolly Rancher candies were first made in Golden, CO.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Denver Biters opt for jewelry made from reclaimed materials rather than freshly mined ones, we'll avoid enough mine waste to fill 20,000 garbage trucks.
