The Bite:
Well, maybe just your neck. Scam-per off to grab a new felted-wool scarf by Ellen Danforth and you won't feel cheated. The CO native takes odd bits of cast-off afghans and sweaters (think necklines, cuffs, and pockets), and patchworks them into prettier-than-the-original scarves. Her craftsmanship is top-notch - inset pockets (no appliqués here), button plackets, etc. - and felting makes 'em soft, not scratchy. Our hipster brother-in-law's getting a toasty black-and-white muffler, and we're dropping serious hints about the hot pink, blue, and brown one with contrast seams (see photo). ED also makes gorgeous Christmas stockings, wall hangings, and blankets - all while keeping old clothing from ending up in landfills. No foolin'.
