Speak of the Devil - City Break

03.02.2009

The Bite:
We were just talking about needing to chill out, and along comes Full Moon Ski night at Devil's Thumb Ranch. For just five bucks, you can cross-country all evening on DTR's 65-plus miles of trails - everything from the flat Ranch Loop to steeps. Ninety-minute night drive home sound a little hellish? Stay at DTR's upscale lodge and grab a spa massage (us = noodles after the Sole Survivor foot treatment and a deep-tissue rub). Or chow on the Ranch House's local, organic deliciousness (like Grilled Striploin of Colorado Elk with onion jam jus). Plus, DTR's buildings have geothermal heat and beetle-kill pine accents, and its roads use recycled asphalt. Time to make an appearance.

Cocktail Fact

In the Middle Ages, people believed that if you mentioned the devil by name, he would appear – with dire consequences.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Denver Biters avoid the treadmill for 15 hours each month and exercise outdoors instead, in a year we'll save enough energy to power a postworkout whirlpool tub for almost 29 years.
