The Tree-ty of Denver

Ready to surrender your Xmas tree? Here are the terms: Starting Monday, take off all decorations (no flocked trees allowed), set it out near your trash cans - 4 feet away from them and any other obstacles - and Denver Recycles will pick it up and chip it into mulch. It's an easy eco-alternative to trashing it, especially since most stuff doesn't really biodegrade in landfills. Side note: DR's only taking Xmas trees (don't try to slip that old ficus past 'em). Folks in neighboring counties: Check out other tree recycling resources. Peace.

Wanna Try:

Denver Recycles Treecycle 2009; Jan. 5-16; put your tree out by 7 am for same-day pickup (720-865-6810).

Cocktail Fact

The earliest recorded peace treaty, the Treaty of Kadesh, dates back to 1274 BC and was written in hieroglyphics and cuneiform.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 Denver Biters recycle their Xmas tree instead of sticking it in the trash, we'll keep the weight of 5,000 park benches in wood outta landfills.
