Boston Guide

That's Aerosmith, for nonlocals. Then walk this way...across the Back Bay by the historic Freedom Trail, along the waterfront for something fishy (and sustainable), and off to mellow Cambridge across the Charles River. Just throw on a comfy pair of shoes (check out our packing list next) and Run-DMC.

You're Here, Now What?

Arriving from Logan Airport:
Here, three ways to lower your flying footprint by not getting a car rental (trust us, Boston's got nonsensical streets, famously aggressive drivers, and quixotic parking laws, so hop a ride with these guys).

Green: Metro Cab to downtown (617-536-5010, call to see if one of their hybrid models is available). From Logan to downtown, $35-$40.
Greener: Kings Shuttle, $12-$20. Airport pickup locations here.
Greenest: MBTA (T) train to downtown Boston, $2/one way.

Getting Around the City:
MBTA: $2 per ride (for how to pay, see note below); $9/1-day subway/bus combo pass; $15/7-day unlimited subway/bus combo pass.

Note: Buses take only cash, single-ride Charlie Ticket, or reusable Charlie Card. Charlie Card vendors are available at every underground stop (though sometimes you have to get one from an MBTA clerk); cash, debit, or credit accepted on station machines. Save the hassle and load up a Charlie Card online.
