sf day 3

Day 3

Finally, the classics: Pac Heights – the city’s tony-est ’hood - has landmark mansions and Bay/Alcatraz/Golden Gate Bridge views. From downtown, take the #1 Muni/California bus to Tataki Sushi, SF’s only fully sustainable sushi bar (the sashimi’s the bomb, according to our SF editor Hanah).

After, walk down California to Lyon St., making a right on Lyon up to Broadway, where you’ll catch a now-why-don’t-I-live-here? view of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge at the Lyon St. steps (halfway down’s Senator Diane Feinstein’s house with big heart statue out front). On your left, hike-rrific Presidio Park, and to your right, Broadway – walk down it for a dreamy-house tour ’til you get to Fillmore St. for shopping.

Must shops: Clary Sage for organic threads, Jurlique for biodynamic skincare; and Crossroads for cheapish, used, trendy clothes. Plus, spa-ing: Soothe your sore legs (yeah, the hills, we know) at International Orange – it’s got organic massages, a private deck, even free dried apricots and chocolates to snack on beforehand...

Pre-dinner, for sure grab a dosa at Dosa – upscale southern Indian fare with lotsa eco cred (think organic/local eats at a sustainably designed + stylin’ spot). The end.

Relax on the private deck at International Orange before or after your treatment.
On the Cheap...
Check out IO’s Spa Specials page for stuff like $20 off hour-long massages (yes, please) if you’re flex on days.
City Fact
International Orange is the official color of the Golden Gate Bridge (and we thought it was just red).
