Brue-haha

The Bite:
Wanna skip the green-beer hubbub this St. Patty's? We hear ya – so down a cold one from OC's The Bruery instead. Putting the rue in Bruery is owner Patrick Rue, who uses herbs from his own backyard to concoct some of TB's 10 creative brews. Catch the new Saison De Lente – a light blonde ale – between now and the end of April, or the here-comes-summer, semisweet Orchard White ale, made with coriander, citrus peel, and lavender. It's all brewed onsite using lots o' local ingredients (like yeast from San Diego), and if you wanna stock up for a ruckus at home, just fill up a growler in TB's tasting room.
Wanna Try:
The Bruery, 715 Dunn Way, Placentia. Map It (714-996-6258). Available at stores around LA. Saison De Lente, $5/glass; growler jugs, $10 + beer cost.

Cocktail Fact

Last fall, a group of over 100 college presidents (including those of Dartmouth, Virginia Tech, and Duke) signed an initiative stating that the legal drinking age of 21 isn't preventing underage boozing - they want it lowered.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters chug a pint of local beer each day instead of an import, we'll save 224 bathtubs full of diesel fuel each year.
