C'est La Vie

The Bite:
imageCovet that je ne sais quoi of the fashionista who lives two doors down? Snag her style at Vie, a new boutique opening Earth Day (um, today). The intimate space boasts an incredible variety of eco-chic clothing, including sultry, studded bamboo dresses and handcrafted, fair-trade bikinis, plus magnifique accessories such as handmade recycled glass vases and cool salvaged coffee-table books. The shop is outfitted with reused furniture (even the mannequins), organic linen drapes, and LEED-certified wood shelving, and it donates 1% of all purchases to environmental nonprofs. Coming soon: menswear and organic lingerie (oh la la!). Till then, we'll continue lusting after LA-based Lily McNeal's 100% organic cotton capsleeve cardigans. That's Vie.
Wanna Try:
Vie, 8032 W. 3rd St. b/t S. Crescent Heights Blvd. and S. Laurel Ave. (323-944-0530). Lily McNeal Ophelia cardigan, $155.

Cocktail Fact

In France, home to cheese, chocolate, and croissants galore, just 8% of people qualify as obese, compared to 33% of Americans.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters make their next sweater purchase organic, we'll keep the weight of about 3200 français textbooks of pesticide-treated cotton out of production.
