Chasing Amy

06.13.2008

The Bite:
imageIf you can catch Topanga-bred actor Amy Smart as she’s racing around LA, give her a high-five. Besides starring in The Butterfly Effect, Crank, and Varsity Blues (next up: Mirrors this August), Amy’s played the role of activist, serving as a speaker for Heal the Bay and working with the green org Environment California. Now she’s set her sights on greening the entertainment industry. As a board member for the Environmental Media Association, Amy helped launch the Green Carpet concept, which encourages celebs to hitch rides in hybrids instead of limos, and fosters a green seal of approval program to promote eco-friendly film and TV sets. She’s also a kundalini yoga enthusiast, prefers to eat organically, and likes to slip on sustainable fashion. C’mon, keep up…
Wanna Try:
We hear you can find Amy doing "breath of fire" at Yoga West, 1535 S. Robertson Blvd. b/t Cashio and Pickford Sts. (310-552-4647).

Cocktail Fact

For the 2008 Academy Awards, General Motors provided a fleet of more than 75 alternative fuel vehicles for red carpet arrivals; host Jon Stewart arrived in a Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters opt for a Prius car service for a 20-mile trip instead of a limo, we'll keep the weight of 76 Priuses in CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
