The Family Food

06.12.2009

The Bite:
Name a film that tells you all about the industry that keeps our fridges packed. Survey says: Food, Inc., a new documentary opening today. This journey through our nation's agriculture industry includes food activists like Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation) and Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma) adding their $0.02 about how American obesity, GMOs, and greenhouse emissions all affect our food choices. Note: Some parts (footage inside factory farms in partic) aren't pretty, but the film'll help you figure out how to feel good about spending your (Fast) Money.
Why Care?:
Seeing the organic big picture helps us better understand what our food choices do to our bodies and the planet. Bonus: supporting the little guy.
We're def a little pickier about where our breakfast, lunch, and dinner come from these days...
Wanna Try:
Food, Inc., Landmark Nuart Theater, 11272 Santa Monica Blvd., West LA (310-281-8223). Tickets, $11.

Small Changes Add Up
