Green Music Festival

Fest Side Story

05.15.2009

The Bite:
You and your gang want a better place to dance than a rooftop? Jet over to BuFest: Malibu Festival of Music. Solar- and biodiesel-powered generators'll help pump out the tunes of over 70 bands on four stages - mostly alternative/indie rock (we miss you in our cars 103.1), with a dash of pop, acoustic, and reggae too. Then jam some organic BBQ dished on biodegradable plates and cool off with some coconut oil ice cream. You'll feel pretty, and witty, and green.
Why Care?:
The event is almost carbon neutral, so it won't be spewing tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere like most big fests.
We plan on checking out Reel Big Fish, Lit, and our local hero, Meiko.
Wanna Try:
BuFest: Malibu Festival of Music; May 30-31; Paramount Ranch, 23852 Pacific Coast Hwy. #384, Malibu (877-274-3301). Advance tickets, $35/1-day pass; $60/2-day pass.

Cocktail Fact

Audrey Hepburn was offered the role of Maria in West Side Story, but she turned it down because she was pregnant at the time.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters compost biodegradable plates and recyle utensils instead of tossing plastic disposables at one all-day festival, we'll keep the weight of more than four Jets outta landfills.
