Hungry Hungry Hipcooks

The Bite:
imageAbout ready to lose your marbles over hosting a dinner party? Get your game on with one of Hipcooks’ cooking classes, and learn to prepare tasty, healthy grub using mostly local and organic ingredients. These hands-on sessions take a thinking-outside-the-cookbook approach, and both the east and west locations offer dozens of dinner-party-themed courses such as Persian Immersion or Endless Summer Salads. The Moroccan Feast for 15 People, OMG! class geared us up for impressing our friends with a chicken entrée and chocolate tarts for dessert. After class, knock back some complementary wine with other budding chefs and…bon appétit. Prepare for your guests to eat like hippos.
Wanna Try:
Hipcooks West, 2833 S. Robertson Blvd. b/t Hargis and Olin Sts., Culver City. Persian Immersion class, Jun. 25, 7-10 p.m.; $65.

Cocktail Fact

Among the definitions in The Hipster Handbook’s glossary are deck (cool), bronson (beer), juicer (ladies’ man), and bust a moby (dance).

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters eat just one meal prepared with local and organic ingredients rather than nonlocal ingredients, in a year we'll avert the CO2 emitted by 80 SUVs.
