It's (Almost) Always Darkest...

03.27.2009

The Bite:
…before dawn, except for this Saturday from 8:30-9:30 pm. LA's one of 1,500 cities (and counting…) worldwide turning off its lights for Earth Hour 2009 to show how a small change made by a buncha people can add up (sounds familiar). So flip the switch, and Dine By Candlelight at restos like La Cachette, light up soy candles at home, or star gaze (real ones). Plus, local group 60 One Minutes crammed 60 one-minute eco-films into a 1-hour block, which you can watch on Current TV’s website from Earth Hour day through Earth Day. Bright idea.

Wanna Try:
Earth Hour; Mar. 28, 8:30-9:30 pm. Watch 60 One Minutes on Current TV.

Cocktail Fact

Other iconic buildings and landmarks going dark for Earth Hour 2009: the Las Vegas Strip, Paris’s Eiffel Tower, and our very own Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biter households turn off 10 lights for just 1 hour, we'll avert the CO2 generated by an average apartment in a year.
