Ready to commit to a good buzz? Join together a few in-season Sunbrite tomatoes from Tapia Brothers Farm or Brandywine or Beefsteak tomatoes from your local farmers market, plus cilantro and Habanero peppers (wussies beware) for this Mexican spin on the classic Bloody Mary. (And thank Amaranta’s mixologist, Rodrigo Lopez Piña, for this recipe.) ’Til hangover do you part.

Cocktail Fact

In the 1920s, the first two customers to try bartender Fernand Petiot's tomato juice and vodka cocktail said it made them think of the Bucket of Blood bar in Chicago - where everyone called the waitress Bloody Mary.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters choose locally grown veggies to make a Bloody Mary instead of nonlocal ones, we'll save enough gas to fill the tanks of 75 VW Love Bugs.
