The Bite:
Wish your next meal could be a work of art? Can do - gather up your disciples, er, friends for a chic-but-low-key evening with Ammo's three-course Simple Suppers spring menu. For thirty bucks, kick off your feast with a seasonal soup or Caesar salad, then move on to entrées like pasta with dandelion, sweet onion, and pancetta, followed by the highlight: an incredibly delish assortment of übersmooth ice creams with flavors like Greek yogurt, strawberry, and tangerine. Your palette will thank you.
Why Care?:
Ammo grabs fruits and veggies from the Santa Monica Farmers Market, reducing the farm-to-plate journey, and minimizing fuel use and emissions.
We started off our meal right: a refreshing gin cocktail with market-fresh cucumber and a hint of mint.
Wanna Try:
Ammo, 1155 N. Highland Ave. H'wood (323-871-2666). Simple Supper, $30/person.

Cocktail Fact

Unusual for the era in which he lived, Leonardo da Vinci was a vegetarian.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters eat a meal of locally produced food instead of conventional grub, we'll save enough fuel to fill about 850 wine bottles.
