Consider donating some or all of it to local nonprofs that keep SoCal swimming and surfing safe, and get a tax deduction to boost next year's refund while you're at it. Heal the Bay, a Santa Monica Bay-saving org, organizes beach and creek clean-ups (check out its handy Top 10 Ways to help). And the Surfrider Foundation, started by Malibu surfers, works to preserve oceans and beaches worldwide - its Malibu chapter has us covered from the LA/Ventura County line down to Ballona Creek (about 31 mi). Cool.
