T-Shirt Line

No Shirt, Sherlock

10.28.2009

The Bite:
Want more from a T-shirt than just comfort? Obviously. So try Vuori. Each season, this LA-made, organic cotton clothing line (men's stuff too) honors unsung eco-heroes who inspire the tees' artwork. Check out the pic of the Sam Roberts (Canadian rocker-humanitarian) tee - the Fall 2009 Collection juxtaposes geometric shapes with nature-y images. They're not cheap, but its recycled polyester hangtag tells how you can send 5% of your purchase price to a charity of your choice (options here). It's a no-duh buy.
Why Care?:
Cotton is the most pesticide-intensive crop grown in the United States and accounts for 10% of all pesticides; organic skips the chem bath.
Vuori's black tees have that faded, rocker-ish look to them that we adore. And maybe it's just us, but the design on the Sam Roberts tee is kinda like an optical illusion of a Grateful Dead-type skull.
Wanna Try:
Vuori Clothing, available at Oou, 1764 N. Vermont Ave. (323-665-6263). Tees, $48.

Cocktail Fact

In 1964, Sherlock Holmes' books sold more copies than everything but the Bible.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters opt for an organic T-shirt instead of a nonorganic one, we'll keep the weight of 22 Biters in pesticides out of the environment.
