The Bite:
imageSpring cleaning got you gyrating 'round some nasty stuff you wanna leave behind? Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is no friend of ours, but you can go where you want to, when you want to, thanks to some free options for LA County residents. Get rid of your used motor oil, paint, anti-freeze, cleaning products, pool and garden chems, electronics, and even expired or unused meds at an LA S.A.F.E. drop-off center near you or an LA Department of Public Works drive-through collection event. Americans generate 1.6 million tons of HHW annually (which can make its way into our water supply), but our county uses the paint collected for its anti-graffiti program and disposes of whatever it can't reuse ssss-aaaa-ffff-eeee-llll-yyyy.
Wanna Try:
LA S.A.F.E. Centers or LADPW special collection events; LA County HHW Hot Line (800-254-2652).

Cocktail Fact

The victim of a lethal concoction of pineapple juice, maraschino cherries, and antifreeze, was oblivious to it since apparently, antifreeze actually tastes pretty good.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters properly dispose of their Household Hazardous Waste, we'll avert the weight of 100,000 cans of paint in HHW from potentially polluting our water supply.
