Consignment Service

The Trade-y Bunch

05.08.2009

The Bite:
Here's the story, of a lovely lady…who turns your worn-out duds from geek to chic. Alicia Zamparelli's new consignment service A Flair Trade will take on the work dress that needs pizzazz, threadbare shirts, or that too-tight Carol Brady frock, and, dye, embroider, embellish, cut, and hem it into something fresh and new. You can either have her sell it at Volk, and get 50% of the sale, or if you have much more than a hunch that you'll wear it again, keep it for yourself.

Why Care?:
Restyling old clothes keeps perfectly good fabric out of landfills and precious resources like water from being used to create new stuff.
We are in the throes of some serious spring cleaning, and plan to have Alicia make a bag full of our boring clothes new to us again.
Wanna Try:
A Flair Trade; available at Volk, 3612 Highland Ave., Manhattan Beach (310-545-1500).

Cocktail Fact

Sherwood Schwartz, producer of The Brady Bunch, interviewed 464 girls and boys to find the Brady kids.

Small Changes Add Up

If 10,000 LA Biters repurpose the clothes they'd otherwise toss in the course of a year, we'll keep the weight of 6,100 Marcia Bradys in textile waste out of landfills.
